Gospel Centenary Celebration:

The celebration of 100th year of gospel by churches in ManipuPlease Turn on Imagesrr South District started from the month of January 2010 to mark the year. Christianity came in Senvon village Manipur South District on February 5, 1910 (according to a recent research done by Prof. Lal Dena, Manipur University) among the Mizo tribes such as, Kuki, Hmar, Paite, Gangte, Zou, and others. Mr. Watkin R. Roberts from Wales (who came to help Dr. P. Frazer, a medical Missionary in Aizawl) came with local Christians on invitation made by the chief of Senvon village upon receiving of the gospel of John (a tract written in Lushai language). As the church grew, the mission later came to be known as North East India General Mission (NEIGM). From this NEIGM, churches multiplied comprising of about 93% Christians within the district.

Here in PTS, the North East Fellowship (a church fellowship under Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church) also celebrated the Centenary on February 20, 2010 in PTS campus. The program started with the lighting of the torch among seven Mizo tribes present from Dehradun. Rev. Maylawmthang (PTS ’88) and Dr. Lalsiemlien (Scientist) both from New Delhi were invited to speak and to present a paper. PTS has about 30 or more students every year studying from the northeast. About 130 were present from Dehradun and Chandigarh.
